The Greater Austin Sports Association (GASA) was founded in 1986 as part of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce's Economic Development efforts and became a self-sustaining non-profit organization in the late 1990s. Over the years, GASA has been recognized as a leader in the field of sports and recreation because of members, sponsors and countless volunteers who helped stage successful events.
The mission of GASA is to retain and enhance existing sporting events in the area to create significant economic impact and increase quality of life in greater Austin.
GASA is an organization which acts as a liaison to help facilitate, organize, and promote fun, healthy and exciting sports and recreation events in the Austin area. GASA works in close coordination with the Austin Sports Commission (ASC), whose primary function is to recruit amateur and professional sporting events to Austin by promoting Austin as a premier destination for sports. ASC also assists with pre-event operational aspects to ensure a successful event.
